In just two days since its release, the sequel has already passed the 1 million copies sold mark. What is even more impressive is that this number excludes the number of players that are also playing the title on Xbox Game Pass, meaning that the concurrent player base is even higher than the above copies sold.

The developers announced this via tweet, in which they also thanked fans for sticking with them and encouraged them that this is just the beginning of the Heart of Chornobyl journey, indicating there might be some more DLC and updates coming soon.

No wonder it feels a bit crowdy in the Zone. A million copies were sold, and much more stalkers joined the artifact hunt with Game Pass.

This is just the start of our unforgettable adventure. The Heart of Chornobyl emanates stronger with each of us.

Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl was originally announced well over a decade ago in 2010, teasing a 2012 release date at the time. After news circulated of its cancelation, GSC announced in 2018 that the game was back in development and that they were hoping for a 2022 release date.

Unfortunately, the company pushed back the game after Russia invaded Ukraine, which is where the developers are based. After a few more slight delays, the title officially arrived on November 20, 2024. If you’re looking for a bit more information on the survival horror fps before jumping in, you can check out a preview of the game’s artifacts, official gameplay, and much more.

Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl is available now on Xbox Series X|S and PC, starting at $59.99.
